Ron Sgarlato

Ronald “Ron” Vincent Sgarlato passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 15, 1957, in San Jose, California, Ron was the second son of Kathy McIsaac and Richard Sgarlato. He grew up alongside his brothers Greg, Glenn, and Steve Sgarlato, building a strong foundation rooted in family and hard work.

 

In 1975, Ron began his lifelong career at Dick’s Automotive Towing which was started by his dad in 1957. It was there where he met his future wife who was a dispatcher for AAA. After just one conversation, he told his lifetime buddy, “There’s a girl. I’ve only heard her voice. I haven’t met her yet.” That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong journey. 
 

In 1990, Ron and his brothers took over the family business, where he continued driving tow trucks before focusing his mechanical talents on maintaining the fleet. He dedicated 45 years to the business before retiring in June 2024.

 

Ron was a lifelong Baseball fan; playing youth ball enjoying many years of adult rec softball and later hardball until his early forties. He was known for his strong arm, throwing the ball from outfield straight through to home plate. He rooted for the San Francisco Giants, but he just loved the game. He related it to life. Ron also found joy in coaching youth baseball, especially the years spent mentoring his grandson Giovanni until he reached high school. In his retirement, Ron looked forward to golfing and cherished time spent with loved ones. He treasured the family’s annual trips to Lake Tahoe and a recent unforgettable journey to Yellowstone with Amy.

 

Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Sgarlato; his daughters, Rachelle Sgarlato and Sarah Sgarlato Pierini; his son-in-law, Brian Pierini; and his cherished grandchildren, Giovanni Sgarlato, Kylah Pierini, Campbell Pierini, and Sophia Pierini;  his loving mother, Kathy McIsaac; his brothers, Greg Sgarlato, Glenn Sgarlato, and Steve Sgarlato; Stepmother Lori Sgarlato; his step siblings, Mike Oswald, Elaine Pierce, Diane Neel, and Cathy Neilsen.

 

Ron will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the deep love he gave so freely. He will be missed beyond measure.
